"2nd India Spectrum Management Conference 2022"

The ISMC-22 will look at how a new spectrum strategy can make positive impact on key priorities such as 5G rollout, tackling the digital divide, connecting the unconnected and providing impetus to local manufacturing & innovation.

Due the large amount of spectrum they encompass, the mid bands and the mm wave bands represent a key enabler for the future of 5G and 6G. The Mobile Industry around the world is supporting this spectrum for 5G deployment. This conference will encourage the domestic manufacturers and technology developers that are supportive and committed to the national local manufacturing efforts and discuss the spectrum and regulatory initiatives that are needed to facilitate economies of scale and sharing between radio services.

ISMC-22 is taking place less than a year before WRC-23, which is scheduled to be held in UAE from 10th November to 23rd November 2023. WRC deliberations are mainly driven by the regional positions developed by the regional groups in Asia, Europe, Americas, Africa, Russian and the Arab countries, through a 3-year consensus building process. For WRC-23, the regional positions, both across the Asia Pacific and elsewhere in the world are starting to become clearer and this is the perfect opportunity to take stock of the preparatory work that is being done, and look at some of the challenges that still remain to ensure a successful outcome of WRC-23 for the country and for the South Asian region, as a block.

Given the advancements in satellite technologies, including the more recent Very High Throughput Satellites (VHTS) in Geostationary orbit (GSO) and new Non-Geostationary Satellite (NGSO) systems, which allow for very low-latency applications, satellites can deliver highly resilient and affordable broadband services, complementing the terrestrial 4G/5G services to fully support the Government’s forward-looking vision of Digital India. ISMC-22 will effectively discuss the spectrum related initiatives and issues for satellite services, including their coexistence with 5G and 6G services.
